My 2 Favorite Cafes in Koh Phangnan Best Food4 min read

The island of Koh Phangnan grew on me. Here there are many cafes, but my 2 Favorite Cafes in Koh Phangnan are explained below. Many of the tourists flock to this island specifically for the Full Moon Parties that occur on a monthly basis.

Thailand also has Half-Moon parties. I attended neither the Full Moon nor the Half Moon party for two reasons. The first cause, fatigue took over me, and I just landed on the island, therefore missing the Half-Moon party.

The second reason, Thailand’s beloved King passed away. The island canceled all celebrations as a sign of respect. What I like about Koh Phangnan is it isn’t too developed, it feels like an island slightly untethered. I ate a lot of memorable dishes on this island.

While there, S and I found two of the best cafes to buy healthy and delicious foods: from fruit shakes, pancakes, to fresh teas. The islands of Thailand will spoil you with their fresh fruit shakes. It’s hard to not have a fruit shake every day, sometimes twice per day.

Back in the States, I’ve never had a fruit shake (or smoothie) as good as the ones that I had on the islands. The care and attention that many of these restaurants on Koh Phangnan gave to the food that they served, literally put restaurants in the States to shame.

Pura Vida
Such a lovely cafe in Haad Yao on Koh Phangnan. The cafe is spotless and very well-cared for by the owner. The owner, who is from Costa Rica, was friendly and attentive.

If you are in the mood for some non-Thai food with Western breakfast options, then this is the place. They have healthy alternatives for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

There are fresh fruit juices, and fresh fruit shakes. Everything was fresh! I recommend the tuna sandwich; it was remarkable! The pancakes were equally delicious. The pancakes are served with honey instead of syrup.

Bubba’s Cafe

This excellent cafe is in Baan Thai on the island of Koh Phangnan. A Westerner and his wife who is Thai are the owners.

This place is amazingly clean, and they show more love for your food then you would to your partner.

I can honestly say that I will never have another chai latte as good as the one that I had here at Bubba’s Cafe. Just the set up alone makes Starbuck’s seem like amateurs.

They separate the chai and inside of it is a huge cinnamon stick. It comes with fresh honey and milk that you can pour yourself. Bubba’s Cafe is also where S and I had, hands down THE best breakfast sandwich of my entire life.

No seriously folks. The sandwich comes with BBQ sauce don’t ask it works. Also, I had banana pancakes which came with edible flowers. Are you kidding me?
